# View Profile Popup

## Overview

![](/files/vfrVK2imFMJFdISDzNNh)

This popup is helpful for applications where a dedicated profile page isn't necessarily needed or in applications that allow users to preview profile information before navigating to a profile page.

You can also use it to display information about a company, product, or unique thing that has an image and/or cover photo.

{% hint style="info" %}
If you are displaying a product within this popup, it's best to change the roundness on the profile picture from 360px to 12px so that the product image isn't cropped.
{% endhint %}

## Structure

* This popup contains optional UI elements (e.g., **Button Follow, Button Send Message, and Group Collapsible view full profile**). You can hide these elements if users will only have the ability to view profile information.
*

```
*
```

* Clicking on **Group close (details)** will close the popup.

## How to set up

* Add a display data workflow that changes the data source of the **Popup View profile** to be the just-clicked User.
 * By default, the data source is set to "Do a Search for Users: first item".
* Update the data source references for the label and description text elements.
* Hide any unneeded label and description elements by hiding the group which contains the label and the description text.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.airdev.co/canvas/3.8/canvas-library/popups/view-profile-popup.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
