Standard Horizontal Scroll Data Table

Overview

This block allows a user to view a list of things in a mobile-friendly data table format and apply additional filters to the list. This block is useful when you need to display around 10 fields per row on desktop and mobile. Once the current page width is less than 860 pixels, the table becomes scrollable.

A user can click on the ︙icon to edit or delete an item via a menu focus group. For more information on how to use the menufocusgroup_template reusable element, please click here.

Desktop to Mobile Example

There are placeholder conditionals on the text elements and circular shapes that indicate the "Status" of each Invoice in this example. These style changes can be repurposed if needed, or removed completely.

Empty State

Structure

  • When this block is added to a page, it is placed within a Blocks container 860 (do not rename) on the page. This group contains the responsive settings for all blocks.

  • This block contains these main groups:

    • Group Standard Horizontal Scroll Data Table - The outermost group which contains the title components, buttons, data table, and empty state.

    • Group Inner header buttons and filters - contains the title, add button, and reusable element filters_template.

    • Group Main table - contains the table column data

    • Group Main table row container - contains the two repeating group elements.

      • RepeatingGroup Website (DO NOT CHANGE - for horizontal scroll functionality only) - used to make the data table horizontally scrollable. Do not delete or modify this element. The repeating group must always contain a single entry for this workaround.

      • Group Inner repeating group container - contains the table column headers and the inner repeating group.

      • RepeatingGroup Dummy - contains the list of things that will be displayed in the data table. This repeating group's data source should be changed from "Dummy" to the type of content that you will display.

    • Group Main empty state - This group can become visible when the data table repeating group contains 0 entries.

How can I adjust the filters and menu options?

  • Go to the page where you have added the block and update RepeatingGroup Dummy's data source

  • Update header text and the data source of the texts in the module.

How can I modify the table's rows and columns?

There are no hiding rules that you need to adjust when adding columns to the table; all of the content will be displayed as long as you do not change the width of the Group Main table element. If you anticipate that you will need to have more than five columns, it would be best to instead use the Infinite Columns Horizontal Scroll Data Table block, or the Infinite Columns Horizontal Scroll Data Table with Fixed First Column block.

You can further customize the data table by removing columns that you do not need. If you do edit the columns, please make sure that the header and data texts all align (start at the same x position), nothing is overlapping, and all the responsive settings for the header texts and data texts match exactly (minimum width, maximum width, responsive alignment, and width). For example, if a "Status" column heading has a left-fixed margin, a 20% minimum width, and no max width, it is important for the corresponding row element "Completed" to have the exact same settings and x position).

How can I set up the empty state?

The Group Main empty state element can become visible when the data table repeating group contains 0 entries. It is currently not possible to access the Repeating Group Dummy's number of entries (since it is nested within the horizontal scroll repeating group). However, you can add a conditional on this group which uses the repeating group's data source expression, so that this empty state becomes visible when the count of that same search is 0 (similar to the example below)
